ME. and e.m.E. out-take, oute-take, outake, p.p. = excepted (Trevisa, Hoccleve, etc.), prep. = except (c 1375, Roman Rose, Trevisa, etc.), and conj. = except (that) (Trevisa, 1433), appar. orig. a south. ME. p.p. of outtake v. (cf. Out-takin and Out-tane).Like Out-tane etc., found only in earlier texts.]
