S(c)hipping, vbl. n. Also: shippe-, schypp-, schip-, scheip- and -inge, -yng, -in, -yn(e, -ein; schepeing; (schiptering). [ME and e.m.E. scipping, s(c)hipping (all Cursor M.), schepyng (14th c.), sheppyng (1535); S(c)hip v.]
1. A ship, or ships, as a means of transport. Also pl. in same sense.To get, tak, schipping, to obtain a ship or ships, or accommodation on ships; to embark (for (towart, to) a place).(1) sing. c1420 Wynt. ii 1328.
