Sturdy, -ie, adj. Also: sturdye, stourdy, sterdé. [ME and e.m.E. stourdy (1297), stordy (c1300), sturdy (Chaucer), OF estourdi, estordi, esturdi stunned, dazed, reckless, violent.]
