Barras, Barres, n.1 Also: barrasse, -ais, barrace; barresse, bares; barrous, barrowis. [ME. barres (14th c.). barras, OF. barras, f. barre bar.]
1. A barrier or barricade forming an outwork of a castle, etc. 1375 Barb. iv. 96.
