Resait, -seit, v. Also: res-, ra- and -saitt; -sate; -ceit(t, -ceipt; -ceat(e. P.t. and p.p. res(s)ait, -said, -sade, -seat; receit, -ceipt; -ceat. [ME and e.m.E. receite(n (c1300), OF receiter, var. of receter Reset(t v.] tr.Some of the instances of res(s)ait, -aid, etc., as p.t. or p.p., may be syncopated forms of resavit Resav(e v., with loss of intervocalic -v-. Cf. the spelling of resauit for Resait n..
