1. adv. Chiefly in prep. phr. with o' or wi'.ne.Sc. 1884 D. Grant Chron. of Keckleton (2nd ed.) 29:
The upper yett, alangside o' which anither set o' steps led owre the upper wa'.Lnk. 1838 McIlwham Papers Letter i. 7:
I ettled after ye as hard as I might, but someway I never could get alang side wi' ye.
