BANNO-DISTY, adj. (See quot.) [′bɑno-′dɪ̢stɪ]Ork. 1929 Marw.:
Banno-disty, ill-humoured.

[O.N. barna, gen.pl. of barn, a child. For disty, cf. Norse dust, Dan. dyst, a fight, a tilting. Torp refers Dan. dyst to O.Fr. jouste, Lat. juxta. Hence the comb., a childish fight, giving rise to adj. as above.]
