BENCH, n. A rack in a kitchen in which dishes, etc., are kept.ne.Sc. 1874 W. Gregor Echo of Olden Time 17:
On the one side-wall hung the bench, on which were ranged the plates and spoons and bowls.
Bnff. 1902 J. Grant Agric. in Bnffsh. 150 Years Ago 9:
The kitchen had also its "bun-breist" . . . besides the "bench," or rack.
