HOPPIE-. Found as first element in names of children's games which require a hopping or springing movement: 1. hoppie-bowffie, a game where a player hopping on one foot with the arms folded tries to upset another player in the game by bumping up against him with the shoulder (Abd. 1930). See also Hippie Dunchie, id.; 2. hoppie-dowfie, = 1. (Fif. 1957); 3. hoppie-gill-dunkie, the game of see-saw (Ork.5 1957). Cf. Hederkandunk, id.
