LENNART, n. Also -ert. The linnet, Acanthis cannabina. Also common in Eng. dial.s.Sc. 1835 Wilson's Tales of the Borders I.215:
The lennerts were singing and chirming among the whins.
Bwk. 1911 A. H. Evans Fauna Tweed 88:
The Grey, Brown, Red, or Rose Linnet, as it is indifferently called in England, is the Lennart or Whin Lintie of the Tweed area.
