PINGO, n. Only in phr. pingo white as in quot., appar. a corruption of the name of a flower. Child suggests pinkie s.v. Pink, but ? Poss. for pink and white, applicable to e.g. the dianthus or sweet william.Abd. 1828 P. Buchan Ballads II. 179:
Your gown shall be o' the pingo white, Your petticoat cammovine.
