ROUT, v.2 To snore. Obs. in Eng. exc. dial. [rut]Sc. 1815 Scott Guy M. i.:
Are ye lying routing there, and a young gentleman seeking the way to the Place?

[O.Sc. rout, 1375, Mid.Eng. rout, O.E. hrūtan, id. It is doubtful whether the word was in contemporary Sc. usage in 1815 and it may be an arch. revival by Scott.]
