TONYIE, v. Also tunyie, twinyie, tonyo; toin. To shrivel or shrink, freq. of food that has been overcooked, esp. in ppl.adj. tonyied, toined, dried up, frizzled (Ork. 1929 Marw., Ork. 1972). Adj. tointy, having a shrunken appearance, of a stack or rick of corn or hay which tapers too much (Ork. 1930). [′tɔnji, ′twɪnji, ′tʌnji, tɔin]
