I. n. The sound of a shot, a bang, puff (Rxb. 1923 Watson W.-B.; Bwk., s.Sc. 1972).
II. int. An excl. indicating a shot or action like a shot, hence implying an immediate or instantaneous result (Kcd., Ags., Dmf. 1972).Ags. 1894 J. B. Salmond My Man Sandy (1899) 92:
