TOWF, n. Only in comb. towf line, the line from which objects may be thrown at a target, such as a manhole cover, in a children's game.Ags. 1964 D. Phillips Hud Yer Tongue 9:
Whoever had suggested “Comin' t' hae a gemme o' Pinner?” decided the distance the stance would be from the chosen manhole cover, and this was the “towf” or “cleesh” line.
