Slk. 1826 Hogg in Wilson Noctes Amb. (1855) I. 212:
Tam ne'er did aught to cross the ane, And ne'er did aught to mense the ither.

[The usual Mod.Sc. form is Ocht. O.Sc. has Aucht. Mid.Eng. aught, aght, aht, O.E. āht, earlier āwiht, from ā, ever + wiht, wight, whit.]
