DARKLINS, adv. In the dark. Obs. since 17th cent. in St.Eng. (N.E.D.) but still found in Lin. dial. (E.D.D.).Ayr. 1786 Burns Halloween xi.:
An' for the kiln she goes then, An' darklins grapet for the bauks.
Kcb. 1814 W. Nicholson Tales 125:
While she, poor young thing, deems nae ill He darklins grips her.
