Haf, Haff, v. Also: haffe, hauf, hauff. [Northern ME. haf infin., haf, hafs pres. tense (a 1300). Var. of Hafe, Have v. Common in early texts; rare after 1520. In some cases merely scribal for the form with the long vowel, as the rhymes show.] Infin. and pres. tenses of ‘to have’.(1) a 1350 Facs. Nat. MSS. II. 14.
