¶BANJIE, n.2 A mistake for bangie, Sc. dim. form of Eng. and U.S. bang, a fringe of hair or forelock, which it was at one time fashionable for young men to curl and allow to protrude under the snout of the cap (Ags. 1974, ‘obsol. about the 1930’s').Ags. c.1940 in G. Michie Glen Anthol. (1959) 15:
