Peril(l, -el(l, n. Also: perr-, peir- and -ile, -yl(l, -yl(l)e; -ele, -eill; -al(l, -ale, -aill; -aell; (peruell). [ME. and e.m.E. peril (Ancr. R.), perille (Rolle), perel (c 1375), -eyl (1450–80), F. péril (10th c. in Littré). Cf. Parel(l n.] Peril, in the usual senses and applications.

1. Danger, jeopardy, risk.Const. of the person or thing endangered, that which threatens danger or the nature of the danger, or to (till) suffer death or misfortune.A common collocation is with Appere v. and its derivatives.(1) c1400 Troy-bk. ii. 2177.
