Ripely, -li(e, adv. Also: rip-, ryp(e)-, ryip-, ryep-; ripp-, rypp-; rep(p)-, repe- and -lye, -lé, -illy, -illie. [ME and e.m.E. rijply, rypeli quickly, immediately (Wyclif), with ripe or mature consideration (a1490), in a mature manner (1611); Ripe adj. Cf. MDu. ripe-, rijplike.] In a manner that reveals forethought, careful consideration or due heed to attendant circumstances; knowledgeably; thoughtfully; carefully; prudently; decisively.Freq., and chiefly, in collocation with Avise v. 2 b, q.v. for some further examples.(1) 1431 Liber Melros 523.
