Sourok, -ak, Sowrok, -ak, n. Also: souroch, -oik, sorrock, sourrak, -ock, sowrock, -ouk, surock, surrak, -ock, suwrock, sorok. [Appar. a dimin. form of Sour(e adj., but cf. ME and e.m.E. sour dock (sour-dokke, c1325) common sorrel. Cf. also MDu. suric (Verdam), suerick (Kilian), MLG sureke.] Common sorrel, Rumex acetosa.Freq. in pl., also pl. as sing., and attrib.pl. 1456 Hay II 130/14.
