Advis(e, Advice, n. (Usually adu-.) Also: adviz, adwis, advys(s), adwys(s), advyis (adviys), adwyis(s); advyse, adwise, adwyse; advisse, adwisse, adwysse; advyce, adwyce. [Later form of Avise n.¹, corr. to late ME. advys, advyse, e.m.E. advice.]

2. Opinion given after deliberation or consultation, as a guide to another person how to act.
