1. A vessel, usually of the nature of a cask or tub; latterly esp. a brewing vat or dyer's vat.Freq. with defining term, as bath, brew, brewing, culing, gyle, haly wattir, mask, maskine, salt, steiping, wattir fat, q.v.(a) a 1350 Facs. Nat. MSS. ii. 14.
